Getting to Malta

The Maltese Archipelago lies virtually in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, some 93kms south of the Italian island of Sicily. Gozo lies 7km off the north coast of Malta. Yet Malta is just a few hours’ flying time from most mainland European cities and has excellent intercontinental connections.

By Air

Choose from scheduled services or charter flights, many of which offer a convenient departure point from European regional cities.

The national airline, Airmalta operates flights to and from all the major airports in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.  

By Sea

The Islands are included in several cruise itineraries and provide an excellent base or stop-over for sailing.  You can also get to Malta on a scheduled ferry direct from several Mediterranean ports.   

Getting to Gozo

Public transport -> Gozo Ferry @ Cirkewwa

For main flights there is a ferry shuttle direct from the airport to Cirkewwa ferry terminal. Alternately you need to get a bus to Valletta and then another one to Cirkewwa. see link below for timetables etc.

Shuttle Bus Service:  Airport to Ferry terminal @ Cirkewwa

A direct shuttle bus service operates between Malta International Airport (MIA) and the Gozo Ferry Terminal at Cirkewwa. Their are eight direct journeys on a daily basis from the airport to Cirkewwa. The bus fare is around €5 per person. Taxi -> Gozo Ferry service @ Cirkewwa

There are taxis at the airport but on busy days you may have to wait. It is usually better to book transfers to Gozo in advance. We can arrange this for you.

Malta-Gozo Ferry Service

A regular ferry service carries passengers and cars between Malta and Gozo. The ferry departs from Cirkewwa harbour, that is situated at the northern tip of the island. Driving up to Cirkewwa from the airport can take you approximately 40 minutes.

The ferry trip crossing takes about 30 minutes and passes through the Gozo Channel and by the small island of Comino. The summer schedule includes more daily trips than the winter schedule. For information and time-tables contact the numbers below:

Sea Plane to Gozo's Mgarr Harbour
